The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has lifted a temporary ban on firearms use for elk and bird hunters in the Little Missouri National Grasslands located in North Dakota. The new rule takes effect on September 1st, opening day for elk season. The ban has been in place due to extreme fire danger in the area, but licensed hunters are now allowed to discharge firearms for hunting purposes.
While this one restriction is no longer in effect, hunters are cautioned to use good judgement when hunting so as not to cause a fire. All other fire restrictions for the area remain in place. For further information, contact the North Dakota Game and Fish Department.
