Since hunter education programs were introduced decades ago in most states, accidents due to negligent firearms handling are now rare.  However, all too many hunters are still injured and killed each year.  The culprit?  Tree stands.

Hunters are injured because they don’t hang the stand securely, they fall installing the stand, fall climbing to and from the stand, or they don’t wear a safety harness.  LocaCarnivore wants you to stay safe when you hunt.  To help you, we found this terrific video produced by Realtree Outdooors.

Tree stands are a great way to hunt, but you must obey the basic safety rules.  The most important rule is stay connected to the tree at all times, either via the lifeline or a lineman’s strap.
