Gerber Strong Arm: all purpose knife or tacti-cool shank? We wanted a general purpose blade for hunting, survival, and tactical applications which would fit on a MOLLE-type chest rig. The Gerber Strong Arm looked as though it would fit the bill. At the price, we couldn’t say no.
Once we got it home, the well designed sheath latched onto our bear country chest rig slicker than deer guts on a front porch in November. So far, so good. The blade had a nice thick spine, which boded well for wilderness use. The spine carried forward to reinforce the point which had just enough sweep up to suggest it might skin an elk in reasonable fashion, plus, serve as an adequate fighter, if needed. Our expectations rose. We hoped it would fill all our wants and needs as our new wilderness knife.
Thus armed, we carried it in grizzly country for almost a year which encompassed a lack luster hunting season. It never made a fuss on our chest rig, but how did the Gerber Strong Arm perform? Watch our terrific video and find out…
