Best handgun for homestead/farm/subsistence.
There are so many handguns to choose from, it’s difficult to pick three or four, let alone just one. Is there such a thing as a perfect handgun for homestead, farm, or subsistence use?
We at the LocaCarnivore say, “Yes.” There is indeed one handgun which is just the ticket for this mission. We examined all the possibilities. Is it a revolver? How about a semi-auto pistol? Is it something else?
There are many good candidates. The venerable 1911; now almost 115 years old. How about a big-bore, single action revolver? Too quirky? Perhaps a sleek, plastic-fantastic striker-fired gun is more to your taste. Old-school metal framed, DA/SA trigger gun such as Sig’s legendary P226? The list has no end given all the guns on today’s market, both new and used.
We looked at this issue from the one-gun owner’s perspective. What could they use the most? Is one more versatile than the others? Is it a gun for which they can get ammunition? Can it deal with dangerous predators (two legged as well as four).
Once all the factors are weighed, we came up with the best solution. No doubt we’ll anger many a fan boy whose pet pistol didn’t get the nod here, but then we think annoyed fan boys are kinda cute. In a tedious way. Watch our video to learn and have fun. Let us know if you agree with what we think is the best handgun for homestead, farm, and subsistence.
