Top 5 MODERN Deer Cartridges (The Future is Now)

Top 5 modern deer cartridges (the future is now).  Traditional (read “old”) cartridges have dominated deer hunting for almost 150 years.  A long time, indeed.  In the last quarter century numerous new cartridges have appeared.  Are they any good?  Will they push the legends off the map and establish a new era in deer hunting lore?

Many hunters don’t realize just how many cartridges have debuted since the year 2000.  So many in fact, it proved hard to narrow the field down to just five.  With a little perseverance, however, we managed to identify the best modern deer cartridges, and put the results into an informative video.

Buckle up for a trip into deer hunting’s possible future as we explore these cartridges’ potential, and assess whether they have the chops to replace the rounds which served your father, or even great-great-grandfather.  Is a modern deer cartridge better, or just a short-lived, cartridge of the month fad?

We examined these upstarts for their speed, energy, and trajectories to determine if they are both good deer slayers and deserve a seat in the deer cartridge pantheon.  Then we set them up against deer cartridges which are not just good, their names are spoken with almost religious reverence.  Can a cartridge which is barely old enough to shave drop the hammer on Titans such as everybody’s first deer gun the .243 Winchester, the two world war winning .30-06 Springfield, or the buck thumping .300 Winchester Magnum?

What we discovered may enlighten some hunters, and no doubt annoy others.  Grab a seat around the deer camp fire and hit “play” to find out just how good these young bucks are–or are not…
